The ruble ended the main currency session on Wednesday with appreciation against the dollar and the euro, according to the Moscow Exchange.
The dollar exchange rate “tomorrow” at 19:00 Moscow time fell by 24 cents to the previous close and amounted to 63.13 rubles. Since the beginning of the trading session, 38 thousand transactions for $ 2.9 billion were conducted, the range of quotations was 62.91-63.26 rubles per dollar.
The euro at the same time amounted to 68.765 rubles, decreasing by 45 cents compared to the previous close. With this tool, 10.1 thousand transactions were carried out for 546.5 million euros at rates from 68.6625 to 69.045 rubles per euro.
The external positive was again able to support the national currency, said Bogdan Zvarich, chief analyst of Promsvyazbank.
“The dollar in the moment receded below 63 rubles and tested a short-term uptrend, originating from the lows of the year. However, the dollar "bulls" managed to maintain a position over him and by the end of the session to win back some of the losses. As a result, by the evening, the dollar from below approached support at the level of 63.2 rubles broken in the morning, ”the expert comments.
According to him, a breakdown of a short-term uptrend will be a signal to resume a full decline in the US currency. While the bulls manage to keep the dollar above it, they still have chances to resume growth in the dollar, the analyst said.
